Join a Warner naturalist for these fun events for all ages! Wear casual clothing appropriate for the weather and hands-on activities.

Pre-registration is required for all of our programs (except Fall Color Blast and Maple Syrup Open House). Cancellations must be made at least three days prior to an event for a full refund.

Morning Snowshoe Hike

9-11 a.m.

Explore winter at Warner through the ancient art of snowshoeing. Learn basic snowshoeing techniques and hike through Warner’s woods. Snowshoes provided. *If not sufficient snow levels, we will still hike.

Kicksledding, Craft and Cocoa

1-3 p.m.

Join us for a fun afternoon of using our Norwegian “sparks” or kicksleds and creating holiday decorations while sipping hot cocoa. Ridden with the same kicking and gliding motion as skiing, kicksleds provide a fun outdoor experience in the winter. After we try out the kicksleds, we will warm up inside around the fireplace to enjoy hot cocoa and prep ice lanterns you will take home to freeze outside. We will use holiday greenery, winter berries, and color in water, which once frozen you can set outside as beautiful winter luminary.

Dog Sledding at Warner

Two time slots: (9:30 arrival) 9:45-11:00 a.m. OR (10:30 arrival) 10:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Warner Nature Center is partnering with the Samoyed Association of Minneapolis/St. Paul (S.A.M.S) again this winter to bring dog sledding to Warner! This unique family friendly program gives children (weighing up to 50 lbs.) an opportunity to ride on a sled pulled by one or more sled dogs, while other family members can take a "selfie with a sled dog", and enjoy a steamy cup of hot chocolate next to a warm fire. Upon registering, you will need to sign up for one of two time slots.

Owl and Snowshoe

Join us for an exciting evening exploring the woods of Warner under the full moon. Meet our resident barred and Eastern screech owls before heading out on a snowshoe night hike (conditions permitting) calling to the owls of Warner’s woods. Please note: We will hike if snow levels are too low for snowshoeing.

Woodsy Woman Snowshoe Hike

YES! You can be a Woodsy Woman by joining us on a naturalist-led brisk morning snowshoe hike through Warner's woods. No experience is necessary.

Family Snow Fun

Bring your little one for fun in the snow at Warner! Geared towards families with young children, we will enjoy snowshoeing and end with a campfire.

Maple Syruping Day
Saturday, March 2
12-4p.m.

Celebrate the syruping season by spending an afternoon in the Warner sugar bush! Learn about the history of maple syruping and see the whole process first-hand from sap to syrup. Enjoy on-going family-friendly activities, such as demo tree tapping, sap boiling, maple syrup sampling, crafts, refreshments, and more.

$5 per person (children 3 years and under FREE)
